that is a no brainer....when kids see cartoon characters doing things they try and do them too....but some cartoons promote good values....so parents have to watch them and choose the good ones for the kids to watch.

Not if the parents make the children understand that it is a cartoon and not real life.
There were no problems with cartoons or anything until the 1990's. So since the Three Stooges Were first out till 70+ years later the parents did there job and there was nothing wrong.
now everything has to be different because the parents just want to plop the kid in front of the TV like it is a baby sitter.

It depends on the content of the film as with other programmes. But with cartoons be careful of ones like the power puff girls, they speed up the backgrounds and keep the characters at normal speed - this is very difficult to process for young children and has been linked to behaviour probs.

a test was done on a new porn golden fish, the fish didn't try to pick the food as it was dropped in it container. as the fish doesn't have a previous experience about that.. then when exposed the fish to a TV screen showing other -similar- fish eating the food dropped in its container, the fish started to do the same..
if TV can affect that fish this way, so what do you think about our children,
the first method our children learn is by imitation.. so it depends on what kind of action they imitate.. the TV authorities and state authorities should take responsibility for what kind of topics are shown..
i think that cartoon films have good effect in enriching children imagination..
and negative effect in keeping them on TV-as recently some satellite channels are found for kids cartoons only-, and this will make their thinking very shallow.. and care more about obtaining materialistic things.. and also become more introvert personalities and socially isolated..
so i think the period they spend watching cartoon would vary according to their age..

Depends on what type of cartoon films. Some do have a negative impact, but some have a positive impact. Ones like Dora the Explorer aren't that bad... But Rin and Stimpy...? Pfft. Horrible.

they defintely do have an affect, but whether sending a good or bad message would determine whether a positive or negative affect would be taken.if the cartoon was positively funny like it showed kids hanging out and being friendly and stuff, it would be positive.however a cartoon like with the roadrunner beating the coyote constantly while the coyote would fail countless times to defeat the roadrunner would be a negative one.

Yes they do have an influence on their behavior. Now whether it's positive or negative, would depend on the cartoon.

Young children are sponges; everything influences them. "train up a child in the way you would have him to go, and when he is old he will not depart therefrom" is much more complex than we think.. We simple humans really have litle understanding what influences a child. Everytime some sociologist writes a book on child raising, another comes along and disproves it... Except that they cannot refute the commandments of God related to raising children.. Surprised?? 27!! i thought 22 or 23

everything small children watches has an influence. whether positive, negative, or both, varies from child to child and from cartoon to cartoon.

my idea on it is yes to a small degree children can be influenced by violence on tv but it mostly due to parents being irresponsible for their children. Using tv and video games as means of babysitting their children. the parents are at fault in my opinion. For example, in my neighborhood, I witness many children between the ages of 5 to 17 or so walking around the streets, no parents watching. Cars driving by and here they are in the middle of the street. Parents have, like the rest of america, gotten lazy, using tv and other means to educate and raise their children. So in a sense yes tv can influence our children, due to lack of parental responsibility.

usually cartoon films portray such characters that are very simple and pure. they teach kids to love nature and understand it's animals. The characters display good virtues of helpfulness, cheerfulness. etc.
These things give the child good teachings.\
I'm against the complex cartoon films where there is a villain, a space ship, bombs etc.
the simple mickey, etc are fine.
