I will be moving to the UK next year and am taking a trip in a few months to check the city out. Just wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on a nice, yet not overly expensive, hotel that has a good location(i.e. near the tube, etc.)?

I found a good deal on hotels.com for a hotel in the Earl's Court area of London. The tube was just a few yards away, plus a direct line to and from Heathrow. There are also lots of supermarkets in the neighborhood, so you can stock up on certain things to save even more money.

The place I stayed at was called "My Place Hotel" and it featured its own disco in the basement which I did not check out. It also had a free breakfast which you could serve yourself in the mornings. My only beef was that it was that my room was reeeeeeally small and the one night there was a person in the next room you could hear EVERYTHING he said on the phone or watched on tv. So at least I know porn is available too.

The place was comparable to hotels that I've booked as part of an airtravel+ hotel package, except its proximity to the tube is a really big plus!

There are so many hotels and most in central London will not be to far away from a tube station. Try http://www.londonvacationguide.com

You will get excellent rates and full info on hotel and location

Good Luck
