you dont live near me do you??!!
2 noisy spiteful magpies have been stalking my cat for past 3 weeks- they have had him cornered ..under a car in full view of all the neighbours.... they have chased him . attacked him-scratching his face, they literally sit on my fence and wait for him. 5am every morning they start thier racket.
the noise they make is unbelievable.... im so tempted to shoot the bloody things. obviously my pathetic cat isnt going to tackle them

where they there before you were? maybe they don't like you? why do humans feel the need to control every living thing they can get their hands on? if there were no 'greedy' 'noisy' magpies then animals killed by cars on the road would pile up and just be covered in flies. Its mostly magpies that clear the rubbish. Maybe they have young with them. the family living hear us get very protective when the have babies as do all animals.
Take a good look at them, thay can be friendly to humans, their intelligent and are really very pretty with lovely iredescent green and purple feathers.
'Knocking nests out of trees' just plain disgusting.

my father has found that grey squirrels destroy magpie nests as they treat the birds as a threat he had three sets of magpies in garden and the surrounding trees but they were chased out by the the squirrels throwing the eggs out of the nest.so you may wish to introduce them to your magpies the only problem you will have then is getting rid of the squirrels.good luck

Odd how some people don't like magpies and call them 'bullies' and 'vermin' ; I feed the ones near us as well as the crows. I think they have fantastic looking plumage, as for them hunting and eating meat, well so do herons and cats.
But if you really don't like them around, invest in a plastic owl birdscarer.

Try getting some chickens from asia. They may have bird flu, that'll sort the magpies out!

Find out where the nests are, and knock the nests out of the trees (the eggs will break on hitting the ground).
Mapies do NOT like the Crow family.
