1) Find another job in finance, get rich.
2) Quit that job and go into software development.
Sorry, couldn't resist. It is tough - you have to be the best of the best. Don't concern yourself with the latest languages - the most important things to learn don't change over time:
- algorithms
- mathematics
- technical writing
- presentation skills
- debugging skills
It can be hard to find a good paying job, but they are out there if you have the skills.
Another point on getting rich - SPEND LESS THAN YOU EARN. Most people just don't get that point.
