girdle it in the early spring (i.e. cut a deep line through the bark all around the tree trunk. And cut it down in the Mid fall.
The wood will dry out all through the spring and summer. The leaves uses all the water that i in the in the branches, leaves and in the trunk and no new water can travel upf rom the ground through the roots because of the cut made around the trunk.
The wood my be completely dry when the tree is cut down and chopped up for firewood.. If not it will need only a limited drying time before ot's ready for use.

LOL I NEEDED A LAUGH THANK YOU.

Dan S ...I didn't know you could kill a tree before cutting it down. Very interesting. Thanks for that information.
My answer would be just cut it down and drill holes in the stump then pour salt in the holes to kill the stump.

purely decrease the tree down, it can't combat back any much less if that's ineffective already. in fact it does not even scream much less opposite to prevalent perception. a great thank you to kill a tree is in fact to diminish it down. If the tree is bigger than 50' tall nonetheless i might pay a specialist to diminish it down for you. Even experts die slicing timber down. Peace, SSSSpaceman SSSpliff

sweety you don't have to kill it before you cut it down. Put stump dope on the stump after you cut it down. I'm laughing so hard because of how you worded that question. You can't be serious.
