There is no way to guarantee the birth of whichever sex you prefer. But you *can* increase the odds. The only method with any scientific logic or proof behind it is the Shettles method (see sources section below). However, since it is only 75-90% effective, you should only use it if you will be thrilled to have a baby of either sex.

In addition, if you do try to choose, I would strongly recommend you *don't* find out the sex during pregnancy. Research has shown that parents who find out the sex before birth are much more disappointed if the baby is the "wrong" sex than parents who only find out at birth. The reason is that when you learn what you are having before the baby is born, you *only* have the gender. After birth, you have a real live baby to hold and love...the disappointment, if any, only lasts for *seconds*. (Ask me how I know--I had 4 boys in a row...)

I had four of them, but I don't know what I did to make them boys. There was some info on this subject on here last week. Enter "sex selection" in the search for questions bar and see what you come up with. There's all kinds of products and books out there trying to convince you that you can eat certain foods or make your uterus more hospitable to boy sperm, but like my doctor always told me- there's a 50-50 chance each time and I doubt that you can change that much.

It's not guaranteed, but you are more likely to have a boy, if you have sex on the day you ovulate. As male sperm only last about 24 hours before they start to die, while female sperm can live inside the uterus for up to three days.

So work out when you are ovulating, buy a kit or do the temperature tests every day, whatever works for you.

Good Luck.

before you hit the beds with your husband, go to the doctors and tell, him or her if you can have an injection, or pill (somthing), that will give you more male hormones, so that when your preagent it will give enough male things, so your child could be a boy. ask the doctor if it could work, first though. because, this is a theory. and i dont want you to try it without the doc, saying it will actually work, so ask if it does...and if it works, plz tell me, so:):)
good luck with the child. and sorry that my help is only theory.:( but the doc. should know if it works. good luck...

I have read that if the potential father takes a zinc supplement, the chances of having a boy go up. Its still a crap shoot, though.
