If you have had a positive pregnancy test, you were almost certainly pregnant at that time. False positives are extremely rare. Probably, you had an early miscarriage.
Hormones of pregnancy or *any* hormones cannot be mistaken for HCG. Unless you were taking a medication (such as some fertility drugs) with HCG, the test is measuring HCG in your system naturally.

If the dr only did a strip test, not a blood test, the yes, they could have had a faulty test. I was 9 weeks pregnant when I requested a blood test from the dr but they refused me and gave me the strip. The strip said negative and whaddaya know a few weeks later I'm into my second trimester with no help from the doctor. Ask for a blood test.

If your urine is too dilute it can cause a false negative result. It happened to me. I am a Laboratory Technologist and if the urine is too dilute it may not show up positive until you are further along. Try with a first morning urine specimen to find out for sure. You can also go to the Dr and pay a high price for the same test. That is unless the test the Dr uses is the blood test.

if you are reading the strip within 5-10 mins then you probably are pregnant. if you read the strip after that time it will show a faint line even if not pregnant. good luck!!

have your doctor give you a blood test... that's the only way to know for absolute certainty. Good luck.
