REVEREND JERRY FALWELL published an article in his "National Liberty Journal" with an ardent warning to parents against allowing their children to watch the extremely popular public television show "Teletubbies" because Falwell says, "one character, named Tinkie Winkie" is an "obvious portrayal of a Gay male." The Reverend asserts that the conclusion is based upon 3 things:

1. Tinkie Winkie has a triangle on his head, a "gay-pride symbol"

2. he occaisionally "carries a purse" (which the character calls a bag)

3. he is purple, a "Gay color."

I am assuming Mr. Falwell has no life since he is attributing human characteristics to fictional TV characters.

Jerry Falwell(the preacher) outted poor Tinkie Winkie. Yeah, Tinkie may have carried a magic bag that could easily be mistaken for a purse, and he may have also had a triangle glued to his head, but does that make him gay? I don’t think so.

latest gay hysteria alert from the religious right is all the more confusing. This time they’re going after Spongebob Squarepants. And this time they’ve gone too far.

To be honest...I do not like the Teletubbies. They are just creepy and they make our children look and act stupid. We can give them better things to do than watch idiotic shows like this. However to the best of my current knowledge Tinky Winky is not gay. Its just something that idiot preacher Jerry Falwell made up to get some political milage. Those damn preachers will do anything just to look popular like that asshole Pat Robertson.

probably not its probably just the stereotype put on him because he caries a bag or they probably had to have a gay alien becasue somehow people think that gay is a minority which it isnt or maybe because he is on a show for kids and in our society streight men cant be around children like the wiggles they have to pretend to be gay just to be on a show for children i mean fr goodnes sakes theyre sliens what do they know about gay or straight they dont even have sex on the show so its not really important they could also say hes gay because gay sells ever since that ellen degenerous lady like she actually did somthin all she did was say im gay and now is important or something wow cause she was the first gay person ever yea right so those could be the reasons why they say hes gay but hes only as gay or straight as his script so blame the writers

That American controversial reverend Jerry Falwell (I checked my sources, see below please) claimed he was gay or something like that, so then everyone started saying it. No he is not gay, it is a kid's cartoon. But because he is purple and I don't remember what else - a triangle on his head - one of the symbols for gays, he found a way to say he was a gay influence. He would call a freakin' toaster gay if he could find a way to make a connection.

... i think of he's, he's clearly meant to be portrayed as a gay character, yet i think of that's a good factor. His female behaviour encourages toddlers to not prescribe to contrived gender roles.

it's made up. Some people say the little "upside down triangle" on his head is the symbol of being gay.

Tinkie Winkie is a fictional character. Please do not upset yourself with thoughts about T.W.'s sexual orientation. Many costumed characters don't refer to their sexual orientation or act on it.
