Yes... and it's different. Just think of the conversations that you'll start when you tell people, "I'm running Linux"! It is a variant of the more popular business OS: UNIX. Linux is open source, so if you have programming skills you can contribute to the user community and improve the code or pieces of it by and features, functionality, etc. There will be a bit of a learning curve with Linux, but remember to back when you started with Windows or even DOS. There are lots of on-line user groups to swap info and support as well as post questions like you have here. There are several popular versions out there like Redhat, Debian, Slackware and so on. Redhat is popular because their support and documentation are fairly good and they have been in the game since the start. The best place for you to start would be at the link below which will take to Linux.com's "New to Linux?" page. You'll be able to get an understanding of what Linux is, places where you can get it, as well as places to get support. What the heck... go for it!

If you learn about linux or you're pretty good with a computer and would like to expand into learning about programming/OS's/etc. Then maybe you can get linux as well :P. It's easy to use.

There are different kinds of linux, different people sell/make the OS, some are free others are pay. You can basically do everything with windows as you can with linux, except with linux you don't have to worry as much as virus and other threats to your computer.

I think so. I've used linux for 5 years. I haven't had any virus's in this time. If you are into gaming then Linux is not for you. Linux can be downloaded and burned onto a cd and you can give it a try. I use Simply Mepis this OS works very well. They have good forums to help new users. Simply Mepis is a live CD so you don't have to install it to try it. Download link below if you have a fast internet connection.

the only better thing about Linux is that it is free. It is kind of tricky to figure out though. HAs some cool games though.
