My two month old is on prosobee and I feed him sitting straight up. The whole neighborhood can hear him grunting when he has gas! He also has a bm just about every hour. Any ideas? He's also had a hernia surgery and looking at one more.

The only thing I found to get my baby to sleep was add pressure to the baby's stomach by holding it upside down in your arms with your right hand on its stomach and legs laced through your arm and your left hand helping to support the head (facing down of course)

-good luck!

Theres some mylecone drops they sell over the counter for colic. I had a very very colicy baby 8 years ago, and those drops saved my life. Also his doctor switched his formula to Carnation Good Start. Its broken down much more then regular formula. Therefore easier to digest. Another "old wives tale" (that works) is chamomille. Go to the grocery store, buy the dried chamomille packets, and boil it in about 1/2 a cup of water. Then give him about 1 ounce of chamomille tea after he eats. OR you can replace his water in his formula, with the tea. It helps for an upset stomach.

Mylicon is wonderful! But it is expensive, if you're on a budget like we are, I compared generic brands to mylicon ( in which the active ingredient is simethicone) and as long as the ingedients are identical, you could pay about half the price for the same thing. Also, I've heard great things about Gripe Water. Never tried it, though.

Mylicon and switching formula are the first steps, but if he is excessively gassy you definitely need to tell your pediatrician because my son did the same thing and ours said it's colic. They will give you some colic medicine that helps with gas bubbles AND relaxes them so much so they sleep better and are not so tense.

I have heard that appling pressure (lightly) to the stomache helps. NOTE: it will not take affect emidiatly, but if you sit with the baby for a while, and firmly rub his/her stomache (enough so that pressure is applied), that should help.

I would definitely take him back to see his pediatrician, and have him prescribe a different formula, there are many different ones so I am sure your baby can feel much better. Good luck.

maybe you could try laying him on his belly(only supervised) on a heating pad on lowest setting.maybe it would encourage the gas and bm to come out smoother and more at once.and will definately make it more comforting for him.also a gentle bouncing knee under his belly might help.most babies love that.
best of luck to you and your son.

You could also try "Little Tummys" gas relief drops. Its for newborns, infants, & children. I used it with my daughter and it works pretty good.
