Hmmm...not sure of the question, but I think you are asking if you pick up your license at the CourtHouse in Las Vegas do you HAVE to get married in one of those little Vegas Wedding Chapels???

And the answer is no.

(ref: Panacea's answer)...if you go to the courthouse and just pick up the wedding license it does NOT mean you are married. The courthouse in Las Vegas DOES NOT perform marriage ceremonies. You still have to have an official sign the license and mail it in, BUT that official can be anywhere in Nevada.

In order to have a legal marriage, a ceremony must be performed in the State of Nevada within one year from date of issuance of the marriage license by any person licensed or authorized to perform ceremonies in Nevada. The ceremony may be performed in any Wedding Chapel, Church or the Civil Marriage Commissioner's Office.

Also: You MUST have a witness other than the person performing the ceremony present at the wedding.

Here is a link to the rules on marrying in Nevada and Las Vegas/Reno.

Editted: Also check with your sikh temple to see if they have someone licensed to perform weddings or if you need to locate someone.

And good luck and have a wonderful married life.

I've lived in Lost Wages (Las Vegas) and I've seen people married right in their car at a drive-thru. A couple does not have to get married in a chapel. What is important is you having a justice of the peace, priest, or licensed person that can give you a signed marriage certificate afterwards. Is your Sikh temple in Reno or Vegas? Just make the arrangements with where ever you wish to be married in the state of Nevada and make sure you have someone taking pictures of it for your memories.

You are married the minute after you leave the courthouse, according to the state. If you skipped the ceremony completely, you would still be married.
