feel silly asking this: Besides coming in here to ask, answer, and discover, besides email, besides just reading something I happen (usually by mistake..) to come across, what else can I do on a pc.?? I know I'm not taking full advantage of this "machine", and I'd like to - IF I only knew what to do....Thanks.

you could try downloading google earth at http://earth.google.com/ , it is cool and you can learn about geography by flying all over the world.
Try digital photography, get a image editing program and you can make arty style photos.
Oh there is google sketch up , where you can design your own 3D things, I think you even add it to google earth somehow

if you had a Macintosh with garage band you could make some awesome music mixes, that is fun. http://www.apple.com/garageband
There is a great astronomy package called starrynight, where you can explore the night sky, zoom around galaxies etc

also you could try getting a paint package with a stylus and try drawing things with painter http://www.corel.com , it has some cool effects that looks like real paint too.

Learn more about what's there and how to make your life easier, more fun, or more productive using online resources.
2. Computers are tools. You don't need to be an electrician to flip a light switch or be a programmer to use a computer, but learning how to program can be a very satisfying accomplishment. Check local community colleges (or search online) to get started. Google for "ruby on rails" for a great intro.
