Depends on what you are scared of. Somethings we SHOULD be scared - It is our defense mechanism warning us.

Other times we are scared because we are uninformed or ignorant about things. Such as some people are afraid of snakes, but I like them. My Dad was a science teacher and we always had bugs and crawly things around.

If possible, try to learn about what you are scared of - education can be a great help.

Sometimes you have to just "act" like you are not scared. Hold you head up and breathe deeply.

Then there are times when you should just avoid what you are scared of, if possible.

I am a Vietnam Era Vet and I will always remember what an old WW2 soldier told me. He asked me if I knew what the difference was between a regular man and a hero. Then he said:

"When confronted with terrible obstacles, a regular person will feel fear and run away. A Hero will feel fear, but stand his ground."

I have learned that sometimes it is the wiser move to leave and othertimes - a person must stand their ground.

The worse case scenario is being scared that a predator will attack you. So how do you overcome this fear and how do you stop a predator from attacking you? A true story: A woman went into an elevator in a courthouse. A very large 300 pound man entered the elevator and pushed the parking button and turned to the woman with leering eyes. She was frightened and raised her hands (as she had been taught). As he leered and came close to her, she stabbed him in the eyes with her fingers. He screamed. She started hitting him in the throat and temple and pushed buttons with her elbows. The elevator stopped but was six inches below the floor level. The man stumbled out of the elevator and tripped on the floor. She got out and kicked and beat him until the police in the building stopped her. At first they thought it was a domestic dispute until they realized this guy shouldn't have been loose like this. He was a bad guy. That story is out of a book called "ATTACK PROOF" by John Perkins. There is another book I recommend along with Attack Proof and that is "WAKING THE TIGER WITHIN: How to Be Safe from Crime on the Street, at Home, on Trips, at Work, and at School with New Fighting Terrorism Chapter", by Scott Flint

Read these books (Amazon.com sells them); they will empower you.

Think about why something frightens you. Try and work out why you feel the way you do. Speaking to friends and family may help, as well. All Brave people did not start out that way! They were first frightened and after they faced their fear, they were then known as brave! Not before!

depends on what your scared of... if it's a person, go to the police, your parents, a teacher, an adult you feel comfortable talking with. If it's something like... the dark, get a night light, or something like that.

you need to say or should say "God protect me please" it works for me and it works for my friends so i would try saying that or sometimes i sit with my favorite stuffed animal (ive had it since i was 2 hours old so leave me alone) and squeeeze the living day lights out of it. sing or do something that you like and find rewarding it takes your mind off of mostly everything or do all these at the same time.
