it might be a mutual admiration society (in the words of james t kirk) in which case the group would help both selfs involved.

might they serve jumbo shrimp at their lunch meetings? or would it be a self-serve buffet?

It sure is, but it does convey the concept that is intended, that there is a group of people who wish to help themselves. It's actually a better concept than group therapy, which implies that the group is therapeutic, even though we all know that in order to be helped, you must help yourself. Others can only guide you.
