It pulls the yarn out of shape especially if you hang them up wet to dry rather than putting them in the dryer. If you notice you can see just where the end of the hanger sat on the sleeve and the arms and bottom may seem to be a bit longer.

The weight of the sweater draws it down and over time it gets stretched terribly in the shoulder area.

It leaves those annoying little hanger marks in the shoulders, so you put the sweater on and it looks like you've got spikes growing from your arms.

sweaters are of knit fabric, knit streatches, so you get those hanger points in the shoulders of them, I fold the sweater in half and fold the sleeves back and then lay over the pants bar of a hanger, thats fine.

The main reason I don't hang my sweaters is because they get misshapen around the shoulders, and stretched out.
