First, you add all your data (numbers). So it would be 20+17+16+17+15+19+17+16+14+18+15+15+21+25+19+18+17+16+25+17+17+24+24+22+21+25+22+17+16+20+20+16+26+15+19+23+20+26 which equals 730
then you divide by the number of numbers you have. So 730 divided by 38, which equals 19.21
So your average age is about 19.

Average = (sum of numbers)/(quantity of numbers)
or... (20 +17 +16 +17+ 15 +19+ 17 +16+ 14 +18+
15 +15+ 21 +25 +19 +18 +17 +16 +25+ 17 +
17 +24 +24 +22 +21 +25 +22+ 17 +16 +20 +
20 +16 +26 +15 +19 +23 +20 +26) / 38
I'll let you figure out the final answer

RE:
How do you get an average number?
I asked people how old I am I am trying to average what all the guesses were. How do I do that? The numbers were:
20 17 16 17 15 19 17 16 14 18
15 15 21 25 19 18 17 16 25 17
17 24 24 22 21 25 22 17 16 20
20 16 26 15 19 23 20 26
If someone can figure this...

First: add all of your numbers (20 17 16 17 15 19 17 16 14 18 15 15 21 25 19 18 17 16 25 17 17 24 24 22 21 25 22 17 16 20 20 16 26 15 19 23 20 26)
answer:730
Second:devide by the number of guesses.
answer: 730/38
Third: You have your answer.
Answer:19.21
But since you cant be 19.21 years old. you round to the nearest whole number, in your case 19.

Okay I know you got the basic answer several times - i'll re-write that BUT also explain another idea to you.
First - you add all the answers together and you divide by the number of answers you got. Someone already did it for you.
BUT here is another idea about it - average means making them all equal. Say you're trying to find the average number of people that live in the houses on a street. If there are 10 people living in house A, 2 living in house B, and 6 people in house C... You need to make them all even.
2 people leave house A and go to house B. So now you have 8 in A, 4 in B, and 6 in C. It's still not even.
2 more people leave house A and go to house B. You now have 6 in A, 6 in B, and 6 in C.
This is much easier when I can draw a picture... but this is the general idea - you take some away from the higher numbers and share them with the lower numbers until all numbers are equal.

to average numbers you can do it simply on a computer using the excel program.
Enter all the numbers in the cells:
Then use the "sum" feature and choose all the cells that have numbers in them, and with the sum feature pick average.
If you need help finding average using excel, use the "help" feature.
By doing it on paper...
Add up all the numbers....then divide by the total number of numbers.
example:
4, 10, 16. Adds up to 30.
Divide 30 by the total numbers you have which in this example is 3.
30 divided by 3 = 10.
10 is the average of 4, 10, and 16.

ok i got it, this is a sign of extream bordem when you doing another person's math.
ADD UP ALL NUMBERS, THEN DIVID BY THE TOTAL NUMBER OF NUMBERS.
(20+17+16+17+15+19+17+16+14+18+15+15+21+25+19+18+17+16+25+17+17+24+24+22+21+25+22+17+16+20+20+16+26+15+19+23+20+26)= 730
730/38= 19.21052632
{ 19.21052632 }
10 POINTS PLEASE =)

It's easy... just add all of the numbers together, and divide your total by how many numbers there are. In this case there are 38 numbers, and the total comes to 730. divide and you get 19.21, so the average is 19.
