Cost-effective solar shingles, made mostly from sand. My brainstorm: Build a shingle plant somewhere on the Equator. this provides jobs, and a power grid to perpetuate a better living standard where needed. Schools, hospitals, desalination plants follow, Sand provides materials for housing, and power for cooling. This system could provide people to stabilize the encroaching desert, stewards of the land all without burning fossil fuels and without toxic emissions.

A truly workable cold fusion device.

Since the industrial revolution, mankind has needed more and more energy. Unfortunatly, most of the ways (there are exceptions) that he uses to create energy have undesirable side-effect: pollution and excess heat just to mention a few.

A source of cheap energy without the pollution would allow growth without guilt.
