I just pause a second, laugh and ask, "So, how 'bout them Dodgers?" No point in trying to act like the awkward silence didn't exist, just laugh it off and change the subject.

someone in my Youth group told me (when we were just having a weird silence in youth) to think of Abraham Lincoln but we misunderstood and half of us screamed ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!! which made everyone laugh so the silence was ridden. now i'm not sure if ya wanna do that cause people might look at you funny but whenever there's an awkward silence i always say something funny cause it eases tension if everyone is rolling on the floor laughing. but anyway

haha confident...I commonly basically smile like a loopy guy or woman :D And me and my friends take photos of warm men we see, good? So one time we've been in this pizza place when I warm guy walked in and sat down with 2 ladies. So, us guffawing and in stalker temper, be certain to take a photo of him...as quickly as I click the photograph button he turns around and grins at us XD the ladies he have been sitting with advised them we've been taking a photo of him!

I just turn my sight to another place if it's in person and if it's on the phone then I pretend someone's calling me so I have to hang up

It doesn't need to be awkward. We don't need to fill every moment with words. It's okay to to pause sometime.
