and American's standing up and saying enough would have what effect?

Will you move first, to be within walking distance of your job and every other place you need to go?

What is the big deal? Seems to me it's just something to get worked up over. It's a natural course of events.

The price per gallon is all relative - if you pay a dollar and a half for 20 ounces of Pepsi, what would that make the price of a gallon of Pepsi? Is Pepsi more important to your way of life than gasoline is?

Think about the things you buy in amounts of less than a gallon - perhaps even bottled water - and figure out what the price would be for a whole gallon of that stuff.

Yeah, gas prices suck, but primarily because it is change; because we got used to paying a certain amount and the price went up. Well, prices go up. That's what they do. I think we just got off easy for a very long time, and now we're outraged that someone would dare to change anything on us.

I have lived through this before - we swore in the mid-70s that if gasoline went to fifty cents a gallon we'd just quit driving. Well, we didn't. We won't now, either. Get used to it, gas prices are not going to go down significantly, they'll just keep going up in spurts as you age. Adjust. This is not the crisis everyone is making it out to be.

And what are we suppose to do about it? "Use alternative oils!" You say? Well if you don't mind that being even higher than gas is now and have your car run sluggishly fine. More gas for me. Does anyone ever think that if there was a better, more efficient, cheaper way we would be using it already!
