At my age the question of being a virgin is moot...
I respect a lady who is a virgin and intends to remain so until the right person comes along -- I have backed off from a couple of girls who made that clear, and thus remained good friends with them. An addict, on the other hand, sounds as if she had no control over her impulses, which is pretty bad no matter what those impulses are.
But you are giving us only the two extremes. I respect a lady who is very selective about who she shares the pleasure of love with, too, even if I'm not the who that she choses. Today, when we no longer swallow the line about virginity being a magically or religiously special state rather than a matter of choice, a woman should be as free as a man to chose a bed-partner. (Well, she can't really be as free as a man -- not until men risk becoming pregnant by mistake too.) I would say that both men and women ought to have shared love with two or three partners before making a semi-permanent choice, but YMMV.

I'd rather be called a virgin, and as a matter of fact i'm a 31 year old female virgin. It's a personal choice. I'm amazed at how much respect comes with the label. To me sex isnt as casual as we've made it out to be in modern society. It means that i'm not bending to anyone's demand or expectation I'm being my own person in control of my own body and giving my future husband all of me. He'll have something no other man can ever say they've had. I believe in biblical principals that ask me to live purely. It's been super difficult, i've come very close to losing my virginity, but so far, it's intact and i'm going to wait. To me it's worth waiting.

I think in the 21st century I want to hear I don't have sex with just anyone or every one. When I am intimate I make sure to have safe sex first and that I realize I am allowed to do what is right for me and not my friends. If this means waiting then wait I will.

For startes, thanks for the free two points.... Being a virgin sounds the most respectable to your body than being addicted. But keep in mind, what people prefer to hear varies considerably. Don't lie and tell what you think everybody wants to hear. People respect you more if you respect yourself.

I think you should only call yourself a virgin if you are one.
Being a prostitute is nothing to be proud of. Who wants to say "Oh yes, I am so proud of my daughter, she's a prostitute" or on career day at school no teacher is going to introduce a parent who is a prostitute.

that question can be hard to answer. just because you like sex doesnt mean your "dirty". the shing to realize is that humans are animals as well. the only reason people think its dirty is cuz sex has been proclamed to be taboo by the judao-cristian revelution(the church).
