As the youngest in a large family, I felt invisible. Neither of my parents knew their true worth, which they passed on. My family was saturated in abuse. With no real past to be proud of, I really missed having a lineage for gratification. I needed something to identify with. My Hispanic friends were all I had in a very lonely, cruel world. I desperately wanted to be able to say I was Mexican or Black or Indian, instead of pop purée. Perhaps this is similar to others. Kids need to identify with something… until they learn who they are and realize the truth. It's ok to be whoever you are, whatever race, religion, etc. It's sad that it is not ok to do so… or that we feel we Have to do it. Do you feel threatened by them? Like you are less unique?

Being yourself means being what your personality says you should be, NOT your race. Maybe the white kids personality is that of the stereotypical black person. Maybe the black kids is that of a stereotypical white person.

Dressing as appropriate to your race is NOT being yourself. That is called taking on what you percieve to be the roles of a white person just because you're white and those of a black person just because you'er black. You are NOT defined by your race. You are defined by what you make of your life.

So what exactly would a white kid or a black kid "look" like? A black kid should wear baggy clothes and gawdy jewerly and a white kid should be dressed for tennis right????? Dressing is a statement... it allows you to express yourself.. and when you are a kid... you change your mind daily.. and the only thing that makes me happy that you asked such a stupid question.. it that it shows that kids now are crossing the simple minded lines of discrimination and just liking eachother for who they are. I can't believe people like you still exsist.

Are you referring to their clothes?
So if a black kid was to wear your view of the white person's clothing is, would that mean the black kids is dressing like a white person?

Say what you really flippin mean and stop trying to sugar coat it. You just made a statement of individuals. If that's the case not one person would be dressed a like.

What you are really trying to say is Why don't we dress like our race.

It's because of the polarity of rap. The new icons are black gangstas that call their friends *****. And now Opie wants to grow up and be just like 'em.
