Good Question. I think that is is so abused, it has become a joke. I know of people who use the section eight housing and put it to good use. But on the other hand I have met many who thought it was their right to have section eight.
I heard of a guy in the Antelope Valley in California, who bought a section of homes and is purposely putting them up for section eight housing. That means that these people will only pay eight hundred a month for a home that is worth well that a month in rent.
I can't believe it. I have always made it a point to work hard, and yes at one time I had to use the welfare system, but I used it when I couldn't afford to live off of what I was making at the time.
I look at some of these people who receive section eight and I wonder"How in the hell did she get a home like that?"
I believe that section eight is a useful tool for those who truly and really need it. I just think that it has been abused excessively.

There should not be, section 8, housing assistance. It is no one Else's fault, that these people are poor. Whether they have children they can not feed, or are uneducated and can't get a good job. The tax payers shouldn't have to pay for them. No one put them in their situation, but themselves. So they get rewarded, with section 8 housing. While the rest of the working world, has to pay unbelievably high, rent or mortgages. Food cards (formerly stamps) are fine. There are too many women/girls (by no means, am I attacking just females, with my statements) who will bring a child into this world, with no means of financial support. The liberals of this country have fu-cked, us all. I work 40hrs+ a week (construction), just like everyone else does. I come home dirty, sweaty, hot, cold, wet, tired, and /or sore every day. This is my, sacrifice, so I can have nice things. So why the ***** ! am I paying for some scumbag to have an apartment? I don't care if it's an 18 yr. old girl with 14 kids or a guy who is uneducated and works at a sh-itty job. If a single bedroom apartment is $1000/month for a person/couple, it should be $1000/month for everyone else. These section 8 people get that same apartment for about $130/month. THIS IS NOT RIGHT ! Something has to be done about the welfare assistance programs.

Section 8 housing serves a purpose. Yes, there are people who abuse it, as there are in ANY area in life. It is not as simple as walking in somewhere and saying I am poor give me a house. You have to qualify. In doing so, you give up some freedoms, it is not a walk in the park. You have to have continuous inspections like you are in the military. Your house not only has to be just right, it must be clean and tidy. You can get thrown out for a multitude of violations. You can not be driving a big fancy car as someone said, because all your assets are legally determined, as in going through your motor vehicle records. If you can work a 40 hour week, sweat your butt off as one person put it, maybe you feel you are better, but what means everything to one, might mean nothing to another. Sometimes it is having to give up your dignity to be able to give your children something half way decent. Do you not think that most everyone who lives in Section 8 wants to be able to do all on their own, period ? Believe me, it is not a piece of cake some think it is. But it is a great and wonderful thing for those who need it. A lot of elderly live in Section 8, what would you do with them if it was taken away. Anyhow, I believe in it, and I support and no I do not live in it, but in my younger years I did.

I think some people need help and good for them that it is there. I also think that a lot of people who live in section 8 housing abuse it. I mean come on if you are driving a pimped out ride and have more jewelry than Mr T and can afford to eat out everyday, you can pay your own damn rent.

I don't know that much detail about the section 8 program. But everyone has basic needs for life and therefore I think it is ok.

Not all people on Sec 8 are uneducated single mothers with 14 kids! My husband and I used it when we were both in college and working.
