It was "Envented" the same way Mothers and Valentines days were "envented" to sell cards.Back in 1776 Ben Franklin who "envented" hotdogs (they wre called "franklins" but now called franks) couldnt sell them to the British anymore because they were still mad about not being invited to that tea party in Boston. He got together with John Addams (who's brother Sam "envented" beer) and Thomas Jefferson who "envented" fireworks and they started the 4th of July. They did this in Philidelpha because it was the same place that Philly cheese steaks were made. The British got mad and made a war with us untill the Germans attacked them and then they were on our side.. Write this down and show the teacher and you will get an A+

The 4th of July commemorates July 4, 1776, the date that the Declaration of Independence was first signed. It's the day that the 13 British colonies in the new world, who were already in rebellion and at war with Great Britain for almost a year, officially declared that their intention was no longer to fight against injustice within the British Empire, but to seperate from it completely. BTW: I really hope that you're either not American or that you are joking...

Are you serious? In 1776 we declared our independence from Britain. July 4th was the date.
"The Declaration of Independence is the document in which the Thirteen Colonies in North America declared themselves independent of the Kingdom of Great Britain and explained their justifications for doing so. It was ratified by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This anniversary is celebrated as Independence Day in the United States. The handwritten copy signed by the delegates to the Congress is on display in the National Archives in Washington, D.C."

The 4th of July wasn't invented. It is the anniversary of the day
the United Stated declared it's independence from England's King George. It marks the beginning of our country. We celebrate it every year with a bang.
It is too bad we do not have a special day to celebrate our country's constitution. It is the best in the world!

No Taxation without representation.
This is the way the American settlers felt towards the British. The Americans felt, and rightfully so that they were being unfairly taxed and did not have representation in George the 3's Parliament. And instead of listening to their citizens and trying to help them, George III instead sent British Troops in to quash any sign of rebellion. This of course pissed off the Americans, many of whom did not until the military showed up mind being British subjects, and that was as the breaking point as far as many of them were concerned. In June of 1776 the Declaration of Independence was written, and the final version was drafted on July 4, 1776. So we celebrate July 4th as a way to pay homage to those who foresaw America as a nation unto itself and as a respect to those who created and fought for our independence.
