this isn't the 1st time england has lost in penalties in a major tournament. i guess it is just nerves and the history that got to lampard and gerrard. much better players have missed the penalties in the past. they just have to pick up and get ready for the next world cup. england need to score more goals in the normal time and not let the play go to penalties. they can't hold their own in the penalty shootout.
in conclusion, england did not have the fire power to win the matches against big teams.

I really hate penalty shoot-outs. In my opinion, a penalty shoot-out is not a football match. At penalty shoot-outs, you get players who have excellent records from the spot missing, while you get players with dodgy penalty records scoring. In proper football games, if you have a penalty saved and the goalkeeper parries it then you might score the rebound (one of the most famous examples being Xavi Alonso's saved 59th minute penalty against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final in which he put in the rebound). However, in shoot-outs, if you miss it is the end of the world.

total bad luck... actually Lampard has been suffering throughout World Cup. I was hoping he would make the shot! kinda feel bad for the guy. Still lickin' the wounds.

Scolari did his homework, reviewing the Premier English League' tapes and noticing how english players shoot penalties. Ricardo knew exactly where to go.

If you saw Portugal's Goalkeeper, Ricardo, he knew where each ball was going. He took the first one, second he touched it but i went under, took the third and fourth one.
