No, my brothers name is James and I have called him Jamie all of his life. The first thought that comes to my mind when I hear the name is that it is a guy.

No!! Check the spelling. A guy doesn't spell it that way. I have a neice and a good friend that both are named Jamie. The friend is a female also.
