Someone told me that I should be able to break up a concrete patio with a jackhammer and a crowbar (20'x15') in just a few hours. I am averaging about 25 sq ft in about 2 1/2 hours. Any tricks to get this to go faster?

No rebar. Just 4 inch thick exposed aggregate pad. The hammer is 60lb I think.

Use a round point, take six inch bites, rock the jack hammer back and forth. And I assume you are using a 90 pound air hammer. any thing else will make this job a career. Oh, don't use a crow bar, use a pick ax to loosen the broken up concrete. By the way, the best way to do this job is to pay someone else to do it. Trust me I know this from experience. P.S. If there is wire in it your going to need bolt cutters to separate it. If there is rebar, use a maul tip. It will reduce the concrete to rubble around the rebar so you can remove the rebar intact. But you will be using a shovel to remove the concrete instead of picking up large pieces.

not if is reinforced concrete because of the rebar it should take you longer. If is not reinforced you must be using an electric thoot brush to brake up the concrete. A 60psi hammer should do the trick a 90psi I would not recomend because of your inexperience and because it will make your body hurt alot more than a 60psi.

depends on how much rebar is in the cement, and hold the jackhammer at an angle don't try going straight up and down

Try scoring the top of a 2X2 section wth your hammer.. Like scoring a piece of glass. Then try to pop it off slab with a duble-jack.

If the slab had wire or re-bar this may not work and your just stuck.

Get jacked up on some Mountain Dew and Snickers....That'll expedite the process. Trust me, it works A LOT better that way.

Best of luck.
