I know I've heard the song. Google lists a bunch of people having recorded it (link in source), including a duet by Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby

Hah! I found a sound clip on Amazon, and realize why the song is so familiar; Alan Sherman recorded a spoof of it called You've come a long way old King Louis. And it is spelled Louis, but pronounced Louie

you just cost me $9. The Bing Crosby album had some other favorites, and I couldn't resist!
