There are a few different ways they are done. There is a pill, an injection, and some are "vacuumed" out. Yes, they are painful to the mother and very painful for the baby. I watched a documentary on abortion and it was terrible. It showed abortions being performed. The baby would actually move to try to get away from the needle, and the vacuum one just sucked the baby apart piece by piece. The pill was something that "ate" the baby, kinda like an acid affect on it. Abortions should be against the law everywhere. The baby might not breath air, but it breaths amniotic fluid, to prepare it's lungs and help them to develop like they should. yes, the baby is alive as soon as it starts to develop.

Most abortions committed in the first month of pregnancy are suction abortions. The abortionist must first force open the cervix (the opening to the womb). Because the cervix is very tightly closed to protect the baby, this may result in permanent damage. The abortionist next inserts a hollow plastic tube with a knife-like tip into the womb. The tube is connected to a powerful suction machine, which tears the child into pieces and sucks him or her into a jar. The abortionist then cuts and scrapes the deeply rooted placenta from the uterine wall and sucks it out.

Some mothers also kill their children using the abortion pill, or RU-486. It blocks a hormone needed to maintain the uterine lining. The lining then stops providing oxygen and nutrients, causing the child to starve and die. A second chemical is used to induce labor and expel the dead baby from the womb. At least ten women have died from RU-486 abortions.

Abortion is very painful for mothers. Some have described it as feeling like "medical rape;" others, like having their insides sucked out. You can read some of their stories here:

There is also evidence that the child can begin feeling pain as early as 7 weeks:

The child's heart begins beating at just three weeks, before most mothers know they are pregnant. If you have any doubt that the child is a living human being from the point of conception, take a look at:

Hurt? Yes. Even if the pain to the mother is not physical (I don't actually know - my only personal experience is a miscarriage at 13 weeks) the emotional pain is very strong.

Having an abortion means deciding to end the life of a helpless baby...

Please consider the emotional aspects & the long term effect a decision like this has on your life.

As far as I know they inject a saline solution into the sac around the baby and it burns to death and comes out. otherwise they might go the whole route of using a tool to suck it out bit by bit. not pretty and it CAN hurt the mother and I believe it does hurt the child.

hey..you know you wouldn't be asking this stupid question if you would have kept your legs closed. When you have sex there is always a chance of getting pregnant. Abortion is awful.

usually the embryo is 'vaccumed out' of the Uterus.. Does it 'hurt the child? No.. It just kills it (him/her)... Is there a risk to mom? Yes.

Sometimes with a coat hanger or a shove down the stairs, and I'm guessing it hurts.
