Talk about taking someone out of context... She was comparing their living conditions in the Astrodome (where she said the comments) to what they were having to deal with in flooded, looted, and destroyed New Orleans. I'd say it was probably better in the Astrodome, wouldn't you?

Let's look at the evidence.
Bush's Department of Justice Attorney General is Alberto Gonzales, a Hispanic.
Bush's Department of Labor Secretary is Elaine Chao, an Asian.
Bush's Department of Commerce Secretary is Carlos Gutierrez, a Hispanic.
Bush's Secretary of State is Condaleeza Rice, a black.
Bush's Department of Transportation Secretary is Norman Mineta, an Asian.
Bush's Department of Housing & Urban Development is
Secretary Alphonso Jackson, a black.
When Barbara Bush made that statement about the Astrodome, she made an impromptu statement that probably was not the most diplomatic thing to say, but remember that she was there to help them. She didn't have to leave her comfortable house to help raise money for those affected by Katrina, but she did. That shows she has a good heart.

Yeah, I think that was a racist comment. What race is it that lives there tough? I don't remember. Yeah, only black people lived in New Orleans. Why don't any Asians or Mexicans or Caucasians live there. Who cares, right? Oh, wait, I had family in New Orleans. That's weird. I am white. Well, I'm sure there was asians, and plenty of Mexicans. But let's not worry about the majority or the other minorities. It is a good chance for blacks to pull the race card.

anyone who tells you the astrodome was "livable", is deluded and frankly, ignorant. new orleans was a catastrophe that revealed the soft, vulnerable underbelly of the US, and the utter bureaucratic smokescreens ( FEMA scandal *cough)....
besides, there are people who EXPERIENCED the astrodome saying that the toilets were backed up, there was no food, random violence, etc. etc. anyone who had family who came to pick them up could not enter, like a wartime roadblock or something. people who wanted to leave were SHOT at for WALKING out of the city!
I mean, look at the raw FOOTAGE. LISTEN to the people who experienced it. THEN open your mouth and state your opinion.

I think that Barbara is past a lot of that, simply because she spent a lot of time in the White House herself.
However, I do think that her slow son is a racist, homophobic, bigot who would be more than happy to eliminate EVERYONE on the planet who does not look, talk, act, sleep with, breathe the same as he!
...seriously.

Yes, they are racist. That's why he flew over them w/out taking food/water. I'm not racist, but we all know that if those were majority white people, they would have gotten help quicker. When the tsunami happened he went to their rescue b/c they were white.
