Well, the various Axis powers, Germany, Japan, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, and Hungary plus Finland which fought with the Axis but wasn't a signatory to the Axis Alliance surrendered formally, unconditionally and in writing to the various Allied powers led by the "Big Four" of the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union and China. Is that "official" enough?

That's an interesting question. The Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan, surrendered to the US and her allies (Britain, France China, USSR, and a host of others). Most wars officially end with a peace treaty, a formal negotiated document which sets out the terms for the actual cessation of hostilities. No such treaty was ever negotiated for WW II. Technically, we could still be at war!

The Allies, and no the Israelis did not win. Well if you think that losing 1/3 of your people is winning.

Look at it this way Germany, Japan, and Italy lost the war.

There are "victors" in most every war - obvious by treaty conditions. There are however, to my thinking, never "winners." With the possible exception of "defense" or wartime arsenal contractors, nobody "wins" in a war... especially if it could have been avoided... I sometimes can't wrap my head around the fact that we still have wars... are we still that pathetic of a species? If so, our future prospects are indeed abysmal. I'm embarrassed for our species... we've got to be a "standing cosmic joke" out there... "Gee, I wonder if those Earthlings will figure things out before their sun goes nova?"

Why would you ask such a question? Germany, Japan and Italy signed surrender papers. The allies were victorious and got to write the history books. The 'official' victors always get to write the history....

II world war was oifficially won by allied power having USA, Britian & France. In ist world war russia & italy were with allied power .russia withdrew from the war because czar was thrown away & bolsheviks made the country socialist. italy withdrew because their ambitions were not fulfilled by the peace treaties.

UNOFFICIALLY is also probably worth noting: the arms dealers and other suppliers of war material, and those who financed the war. who lost? the 60+ million who died, i would assume. war is always a winner for the rich, the well connected and the heartless: first they instigate them and then they profit from them. it's good business, after all.
