I grew up with it. I played the game and still do. I'm a fan and respect its history. It's the greatest game on earth. All other sports pale in comparison. It's the only sport where stats are as much a part of the game as the players. Pick a number and it automatcially draws a picture...61, .406, 714, 755, 300wins, well you get the idea. Baseball, you gotta love it!!!!!

I started watching it with my dad when I was young and started playing when I was 11. There was little my dad and I did together, but we did play catch and hit when I was young. I played it all the way through high school. I had an opportunity to play in college but my ego was too big and my thirst for partying was too strong. I believe I probably made one of the biggest mistakes in my life by turning down a "walk-on" offer from one of the winningest junior colleges in the nation at that time. I had too many people telling me how good I was that I believed I would just be given a scholarship without any effort. I had a pro scout comment on me during the state payoffs my senior year basically saying to my coach I had a good shot, but I blew it. I will never know where I would ended up...maybe no where, maybe somewhere great...I will never know! But baseball has been a sport close to my heart from day one and wil always be to me one of the greatest sports ever invented.

I grew up playing the game. That was the one thing my dad
and I had in common. I now umpire at the High school level,
and the see the game, from a different perspective. Those
are some of the reasons I enjoy Baseball.

I am from Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, baseball is a sport that is widely played. I have played it since I was in kindergarten. Now, I come from a generation where baseball and greed didn't mix. Where people could go up to the ball players and shake hands with them. Unfortunately, today's ball players are so focused with money it is a shame. So I haven't been following them for quite a while. . . Except on the World Series.

I have loved baseball for as long as I can remember, We would watch every game that was televised I loved Harray Caray. My parents would take me and my sister to Wrigley field, letting us ditch school, I remember going to the first game under lights at Wrigley then coming back the next night for the first official game under lights as the first was rained out. My dad was a huge Cub fan and they inspired me to play softball. I have been playing since I was 6 and that was 28 years ago, I am still playing, my parents were my coaches all through Jr. Miss and they were there watching me play high school and then again when I played for College. I have 4 kids and I do the same for them they ditch school and I take off work to go to a Cubs game, We watch the games with my dad, so it is a multi-generational thing in my family the love of baseball. I still take my dad to games even though his hips can not take the walk from the southshore to the El, he still tries a few games a year!! I love Baseball, and I love my Dad

There is something about baseball and fathers. Maybe it's because it's one of the only sports where you often see fathers and sons playing together (Griffey and Griffey Jr. Hal and Brian McRae, the Borbóns, etc), or maybe it's because so many of us grew up watching it with our dads. For me, one of my favorite memories as a kid was going to Opening Day in Cincinnati. If you are a fan of the game, go there on opening day sometime...they put on a show like you wouldn't believe. I can remember walking to the park with my father and thousands of other fans...eating hot dogs and having him explain the nuances of the game to me, cheering a hit and booing an out. To this day, my Father’s Day gift to my dad is a night at the ballpark and it never fails to be a great evening. My father and I don't always see eye-to-eye on things, but we always have The Game in common.

Most guys like baseball..because we played Little League, Pony League, Babe Ruth league High School Baseball team etc...Years of playing and the game gets stuck...I also collected over 10,000 baseball cards....so I followed stats closely over the last 20-25 years...
There is something about the smell of the ball park...the fresh grass, the leather of the mitt...the sunset sky or the heat of the afternoon ball game..it is hard to describe...it is addicting!
I lived in Southern California and went to the Dodger game when "the wave" started for the very first time. I also got to sit in Buzzy Bavasi's box in 1985. it was sweet! I remember Kirk Gibson's HRs in 1984 as well as in 1988 ..both were AMAZING!!

I was 5 years old...living in Long Island, New York...my father was/is a big Yankee fan...he took me to my first game at Yankee Stadium...and I fell in love! Love at first sight...it was the biggest thing I ever saw in my life ( remember I was 5 )...the grass so green...the smell of hot dogs...it was the best time I ever had. My dad told me everything about the Yankee's History...when my dad was telling me the history...anything else was blocked out of my mind. My mother said my father brought me up the wrong way ( she is a New York Met's Fan ), I have nothing against Met fans, my best friend from back home ( long island ) is a Met fan, but I believe my dad brought me up just fine...I couldn't be MORE PROUD TO BE A YANKEE FAN...FOR LIFE!! And nothing anyone says to me can change that...I just say that because you have a lot of RUDE fans out there now a days that can't talk to someone else unless they are a fan of that person team!! Well that was my story...

Aside from steroids it is one of the last pure sports out there. I'm sure many would disagree. I love the science and strategy of the game. It's not just about running around knocking people over or seeing how many times you can put a ball in a hole. There are so many subtle nuances that many who are not fans of the game don't see or understand.
