Be patient with them and wait. Most ferrets will get a little calmer after the age of three. I have four ranging from 3 1/2 yrs to 6 mos and I can tell a definite difference. And if they get enough play time outside the cage, including playing games with you, they'll be good and tired and will sleep the rest of the day. We play "attack" and "towel races" and I totally wear them out. Attack is when I throw a small pillow or stuffed animal in the air and let it land close to them(watch out, nothing heavy, they do get hit sometimes). It makes the ferrets jump up into the air and then attack the item. Towel races are when I pull a big towel along the floor in front of them until they all jump on. I pull the towel pretty fast around the room until they fall off one by one. "Weasel bowling" is a good one too if you have a slick floor somewhere. I just take them in one hand and "bowl" them away from me. It makes them scramble to stay on their feet and get back to me so they can do it again. Always be careful that you do not accidentally toss them into the furniture though. These are just a few of our games we play to wear the lil boogers out. Everyone gets a treat before bedtime, they have to perform a trick for it, and then they sleep forever it seems.

Some ferrets are naturally calmer than others..but part of their personality is there energetic behavior...my ferrets are handled quite a bit and they seem to like to be carried around so my advice would be to handle your ferret as much as possible

the more you handle them/ or play with them the calmer/ more friendly they will be. we have a male named Stud. They are naturally excited little critters. It's normal for them to run fast and play hard. then they tire out when you put them in there cages.

I love em too- but part of what makes them so great is that they are so energetic - let him run around for a couple hrs. throughout the day and he will have calm moments- enjoy!!!
