Ok, I would have a
Square,
Level
shims
nail gun (or hammer and nails)
Make sure that the door is the same distance, from inside the room and out.
When you place the door in there, take the shims and place them on both sides, and on the top. (both sides or at all four corners and in the middle).
Now, after you have made sure that its even from one room to the other...
Take your square. Put it at all four corners of the door, and make sure its square. You can shim the door, after you make sure its all square.
Now put a level on the top of the door, and make sure its level, (so the door wont rack, or, go out of "sorts" and not close properly).
After you have made sure of this, drive a large nail in all the shims or air gun them in.
Now, break off the shims...or, cut them all with a jig saw..(shims should be just "stuck" in, so you can take them out, if necesary and reposition them).
Now, the door should have a 1/4 inch between the door and the jamb, so that it will close properly. After that, close the door and open it and see if it works properly.
I wish you well..
Jesse

The quickest way and also easiest is to "case" hang your interior door. Place the new door flat on a set of sawhorses with the hinge side facing up. Next install your door casings (the trim) so that it's even all the way around. Next place the door in the door way (make sure you remove whatever is keeping the door closed from the manufacturer) and level (plumb) the hinge side of the door with a level and nail that side of the casing to the wall. Next make the top margin of the door the same and nail the top casing (header) to the wall. Now then, make the door knob side of the door margin even and nail that casing to the wall. Now your door is hung level and square in the door opening. You'll want to place shims between the wall and the door jamb from the opposite side of the door. Once this has been done you can place the door trim on that side also. Make sure you finish the job by nailing the door jamb to the wall studs at each hinge location and equally on the other side. Your done and it didn't take you all day. Your door is set perfectly in the doorway opening and you didn't have to hire an overpriced handyman to do it for you....congratulations.
Good Luck!!!

not too hard, as long as they are 6'8" and not 8'.
You'll need an air compressor and finish nailer, shims and a level (probably 36").
You'll want to make sure that the door is plumb in both directions (inside to outside and left to right). That's the essense of it, really...

its very easy. it will come as a "split jamb". simply plumb and square the first half with the door, nail 4 times through trim on each side. place shims at each hinge, one just above catch, and one about a foot above floor below catch. nail each one through jamb. install insert on other side and nail 4 times through trim on each side. caulk, putty, prime, paint. you need a level, hammer, nail set, caulking gun, sandpaper, paint brush, i think it adds up to 20 6d finnish nails. oh yea, and a lockset.

It is fairly easy to install a pre-hung door. You need a screwdriver, caulking, wedges, screws and foam filler sealant.
