It depends. What do you plan to use it for? If you will need to share files with other PCs or use previously purchased PC software, you shouldnt get a Mac since not many people have them. Also, its harder to find Mac compatible software and hardware without going to a specialty computer shop or going online to sites like macaddict.com. I have used many laptops and have found that HPs are junk. They are cheap for a reason. I would also not recommend a Dell as they are overpriced for no better than they really are. I would get a Toshiba or a Sony instead.

All have good points but......
Dont get a new Mac. They are coming out with new models with Intel chips and may have bugs in the design.
Dont buy a Dell. The customer support is going downhill and so are their laptops.
HP are just as bad, but I have seen that they are coming up in quality and features and the customer support is pretty great.
I have a DV1000 I bought a few years ago and have NEVER had a problem that wasnt MY fault. Tech support walked me right through it and it was great.

What do you plan on doing with it? If you intend to do lots of graphics or multimedia editing, Mac is the way to go just because the software to do that sort of thing is cheaper for Macs. I personally prefer using PC compatible hardware, like HP and Dell, because I can manipulate it more freely than a Mac. PCs are also easier to get to talk to one another than to try to make a mac talk to a pc.

Well I'd go with dell. I like dell products pretty good. If I had the money right this min, I would go with dura notebook. The shell is supposed to be 20x stronger and it's supposed to be spill proof, or at least if you spill something on it, it doesn't hurt it. No, I'm not saying you will, but stuff can happen. But I don't know how long they will have this one, so maybe I should not say nothing about it.

It's a matter of preference, I like HP . I have had mine 4 years ( no problems ) . I have friends with Gateway, and Dell , they had problems with hard drives, but a friend with an HP had a problem too, so get the OS you like and the features and just hope for best!!!

if its for movie editing and a lot of graphic software get a Mac. Otherwise get a HP but a higher end model as cheap ones are badly built. As for a Dell, never get one.

GET A MAC...If you get a computer running Windows, you will be subjected to many viruses (in the millions)

Mac computers have no viruses, and no one has successfully created a virus for a Mac, except there are less programs that run on a Mac
