Yes it is very possible.Alzheimer's victims do it every day. The sense of humor is the first noticeable loss, hence one forgets what "happy" is all about. Forgetting to laugh, and how to feel joyous is great personal loss.

Sometimes I think it is possible. When disappointment seems to happen continuously, it makes it hard to look forward to anything. Your afraid to be happy because at any given moment, you could be let down and disappointed again. It's kind of a cycle. I have to really try, to just roll with the punches and be happy with what I have and not worry about what I don't have. We get so wrapped up with all the bad stuff we don't even notice the good when it's right in front of us. Prayer seems to help too...:)

Happiness is an illusion. Just when you think your life is going good everything is taken away. Why be happy if it will only make the pain more pronounced?

No, I think you have to choose to be happy when you wake up every morning. Someone who works at a famous open fresh fish market in Seattle said it, and it just kind of stuck with me, I figured if he could do it smelling like fish guts every day-I could.

yeah , when we grow up and become cynical - I think people become less happy as they forget to appreciate life, seems the people I know who have it the hardest (friends literally fighting for their lives against cancer, lyme's disease) are the happiest simply because they take the time to be happy

Blue said it all....I have to work hard to be happy sometimes.....yet a child can make me smile or a cat. The little things in life can soothe the soul.

Sure i guess if you're depressed or stressed out for a long time you could forget things that brought you joy.

I think out of my own experiences you are either numb for so long that you dont recognize when your happy or you can be so depressed that you can convince yourself that it is impossible

Maybe how to have fun, but once you figure that out, you should be happy.
