someone who has nothing to gain from the words being said!

These days far too many people have agendas, if what is said can in no way be traced back to benefitting the speaker or his/her agenda, then I bet you those are the bold inescapable words of truth.

Even those I love and trust, sometimes have a motivation for either one - coloring what they say, as to protect themselves or me. or two - they may hold back on full disclosure, afraid to face my reaction (anger or tears or disbelief).

Best source is an objective source. Which would not be Dr.Phil, he definitely has an agenda.

Someone I know and trust. Full stop.

I am much more inclined to believe something I hear from a person I know and trust than from an expert, a journalist, a politician, a priest, even a professor who is not personally known to me.

Trust is the operative word here. Trust is something which must be earned, over time. No matter how well educated, well intentioned or well positioned a source (or sources) may be, if I don't know them personally, I cannot possibly trust them. And if I can't trust them completely, I'm disinclined to believe them.

Mind you, this argument needs to be considered by degrees of trust. For example, I am more likely to trust a journalist with whom I am comfortable and familiar (Ted Koppel, for instance) than someone comparatively new on the scene (Anderson Cooper comes to mind). And putting my trust in a politician? Well, I don't look that stupid, do I? ;-)

If I hear it from nothing.

I feel you seek an understanding? Like when you attempt to believe something that you have already set you mind to in a completely opposite direction. Just Stop and feel whats presented to you, soon you will change the word from believe to understand. From there you could correct or accept in the perfect way. Change life for yourself or another! (Perfect conversation) (Meaning full Conversation)

I would need to hear something more than once from different sources that are credible, such as science or people involved in specific research specializing in the topic. I am not a faith-based person. I also believe things when I see them for myself.

Funny you ask this. Last february, I was in ICU, bleeding 4 pints one night, and the nurse tried to tell me, "You're GOING to be alright! This happens a LOT!" She told me this some 10 TIMES, and I STILL wasn't believing it. I didn't believe it, until the Doctor came in that next morning, around 6 a.m. and preaching came on the TV. Then I thought, "Ok, the nurse is telling me, and the doctor is telling me, and NOW GOD is telling me He is With me! OK GOD, GET ME OUTTA HERE!!"

Hi! ....if I hear it from a good friend of mine on the spirit plane. The friends that I have there, are very trustworthy and I'd believe them over anything/one on this dimension.

a child.

why?
because

i really admire lil kids because in all their innocence and naivety, they open up to others easily. some can play happily wif strangers at the playgrd. they are sincere in their frenships and this enables them to form close bonds of trust amongst one another. as for adults, when we meet new people, in some cases, there is a tinge of apprehension and doubt. trust? it has to be built. wad if you stab a knife in my back tomorrow? and even if dere is trust, there is no 100%?

I agree with Mac on this one,Patz,I'm more likely to believe something if I hear it from someone I know and trust.

But,mind you,I've been betrayed more than twice in my life,so it's hard for me to trust anyone completely...
