I lived on the streets for about 4 yrs and found it to be one of the most freeing and absurdly horrible expierence often all at once. I somtimes stayed in a shelter somtimes on a sidewalk or fire secape. Traveled from Prov. to Prov. Met the wierdest dumbest and brightest people in the world - good bad you name it - I just want to know if anyone else has been on and then left the street. I was 29 when I hit and 33 when I got off 3 yrs ago.

Yes, and it was the best experience of my life. I think about it almost every day. It was the year that I turned twenty-one, 1977. There were still hippies in those days, and I counted myself among their number. Like you, I met a lot of wonderful people, and a few very scary ones.

yes only for a short time tho, had good and bad experiences too, in the hostels was pretty creepy cos the keeper was always drunk so there wasnt much protection. on the street tho you can feel almost a kindrid spirit with some people and form a bond very quickly, lotsa scary moments too tho!
i was only 16 which i think also drew too much unwanted attention to myself. ***luv my cosy home now!!*** and very much appreciate what i have and enjoy now and have learnt to nurture myself, very important..

My husband, our two puppies and I lived in our car for a few monthes. We were able to go to campgrounds to shower, even though it was winter. It was probably the most horrible, humbling experience ever. It is amazing how cruel people can be.
