I think feminism has been taken to an extreme in the last 20 years or so. I'm glad we can work, I'm glad we can choose to have a career, and I'm glad we're allowed to compete with men for jobs, don't get me wrong. I just feel that women who choose to stay at home and be moms are looked down on unfairly. People act like those women are just "wasting their lives" and "throwing away their talents." Women need to remember that equality in the workplace comes with a side dish of MAJOR sacrifices at home. I'm glad my mom chose to invest her life, her time, and her talents in raising me.
I think that stay-at-home moms need more respect. They're not doing it because they have to, but because they WANT to. And what more value can you place on your time than investing it by raising your child to be prepared and ready for the future? Somebody's got to raise the future leaders of America, and I'd feel a lot better knowing it was someone who did it with dedication and sacrifice instead of someone who just did it for a paycheck.

While I agree with the above poster that women's choices should be respected, no matter what they are, I think it's interesting to note that her message is the perfect example of how much we take for granted the feminist advances that have been acheived so far, and how much still needs to be done to achieve equality.
Our society is *still* pitting women against one another, and the stay-at-home or go-to-work conflict is a perfect example. The point is that women have choices, and we should all respect those choices, whether or not they might be right for our own lives. We should just be happy to have a choice! My mother was of the generation in which staying at home was "what women did," not what women chose to do, so we have to be understanding of women who can't conceive of why women would choose something that was obligatory for many of them.
I think that young women and girls take for granted the advances that feminists have made, and don't realize how much still needs to be done. I think young women today (and I am one) lack an understanding of the importance of community, the importance of politics, and just how powerful women can be when we get together--all things that our feminist foremothers were adept at dealing with in order to make our lives better. Pushing each other down and belittling each other's choices doesn't contribute to women's empowerment or a path to equality.

Some do, some don't, and some woman do not know much about the effects of feminism in history. It's sad but some woman do not know all the rights that had to be fought for years ago just to be equal to men in the workplace or everyday things like having their own money in banks, rights to children, rights to land, rights to freedom, rights to speak for yourself. There are just so many things. We should thank those brave woman everyday.

Not really some wish they where never a female and some just really don't care. You will find plenty who love there effects and they wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. But the only thing that they don;t appreciate is there cycle that they have every month.
