it was a gift from her grandmother who she was going to visit.
and the reason she wore is the same reason I wore the polka dotted dress
now when I was a kid and my Grannie gave me clothing as gifts
my mamma always made me wear the things when visiting grandma. It did not matter that I hated the chartreuse green and puce purple polka dotted dress mama still made me wear it in front of everybody on thanksgiving at grandma's
I imagine red riding hood had the same problem
notice how the villagers all forgot her real name and teased her with the red riding hood nick name.
Some family member still call me dot. If i had a wolf i know who I would invite him to eat. but like red, I'd not let him get my Grannie.

Because the person that wrote the story wrote it about Little Red Riding Hood. How could she not wear a riding hood? Just the writers creativity, I guess.

Good question. One interpetation is that this is because she always wore a red hooded cape every where she went so that became her nic name little red riding hood. Or it could be a symbolize maturity as the girl gets older she is entering the scary world of woman hood. Also a red cape was worn in France by prostuites. There is a lot of interperation as to the reason behing the red cape

This site has the original stories as presented by the Brothers Grimm. She was originally called "Little Red Cap". I think it makes a lot more sense!

Only thing I can figure is that whoever changed it thought that a riding cloak and hood would make more sense to the readers. I followed several links and didn't find any explanation about what a riding hood was, nor why it was used.

Probalby because she was told to, in order to keep the air from hitting her. That's my guess. I've wondered what color of clothse she wore under the hood and cape.

Perhaps it was just her bit of kinkiness. I mean we all have our little things that were into. Maby her little red hood was like J. Edgar Hoover's panties. And who are you to judge..... lets just say I have seen the photo's and frankly.....well it turns me on to...so call me ...k?

well perhaps it was raining, cold outside or since she was walking in the WOODS maybe to protect herself from things that might hit her head. OR, if the ozone layer was remotely like it is nowadays, and i assume they didnt have sunscreen then, to protect herself from the deadly uv rays to avoid skin cancer. lol

I think she knew the dime had been dropped on her,And the wolf would be looking for her delivery to grandma,So she decided to try and disguise herself,so the wolf would'nt recognize her.
