They appear to be eating holes in the leaves. They are also almost microscopic. Nasty little boogers. Can the plants be salvaged?

Those sound like whiteflies to me, see if you can find the pesticide Safari, or either Distance or Azatin

Lady Bugs! Take a leaf to the nursery to identify the pest and pick up some Lady Bugs to get rid of them. Sounds like aphids to me with the holes through the leaves and being so small, but lady bugs will eat most anything.

Spray the undersides and tops of the leaves with White Oil. Just a light spray, don't flood the plant.

Put out something bright yellow with honey on it the white flies will go for it and croak---spray does a bit of good but takes lots of time and effort---white flies for some reason like yellow, you can use any sticky liquid on the yellow.
