I hate to sound trite, but read The DaVinci Code. It's fascinating!

Well...start out with something fun. I like the entire A Series of Unfortunate Events-- they're short, fun, and well-written. Another couple books (once again juvenile fiction because some of the best writing these days seems to be for kids rather than adults) that are extremely well done are A Long Way from Chicago and A Year Down Yonder.
If you're looking for something with a bit more meat, The Handmaid's Tale or 1984 are good. Kushiel's Dart is a fantastic thick novel. Have fun!

Getting into reading is a tough thing to do. You need something creative but not so complex that you get lost to easy. I have a few sugestions. If you liked the movie Fight Club the ntry reading the novel Survivor writen by the same author, Chuck Palahniuk. Stardust, or Neverwhere both by Neil Gaiman are wonderful reads if you were ever a fan of Alice In Wonderland and would like a more adult version. One thing I always tell people that say they want to read but don't know what to read is find a book that if it was a movie you would watch.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is one of the best books I've ever read. I'm used to enjoying books, but her books are addicting almost from the first chapter. Even though her book(s) are long, it's hard NOT to read it in one sitting. The sequel New Moon is being released this fall.

Sarah Dessen is a great YA writer.

And overall, I'd say Orson Scott Card is my favorite author. I've loved almost everything he's ever written.

Anything by Larry McMurtry - very entertaining and well written--I also like historical fiction - Just read "The Speckled Monster" about the development of the smallpox vaccine in the 1700's. Written like a novel, not just dry historical facts, this book keeps your interest as you see the struggles that two very different people went through to get the smallpox vaccine widely accepted and used in England and America. Fascinating!

Read any of James Patterson's books. (my favorite). Or, a better idea is to look at the best seller's list of 10 books. The actual books are at any supermarket, bookstore, or even some drug stores. The list is also in newspapers. Start with the one that you think you'ld like the most and keep going! If it's a best seller you can't go wrong. Eventually you'll have your favorite author.

If you like historical fiction, Bounty Gun and Longarm And The Mysterious Maiden are great. If you like Mysteries, The Peach Cobbler Murder and the Chocolate Cat are good, as are
The Cat Who Saw Red, The Cat Who Sniffed Glue and
The Copy Cat Mystery. If you're more into fantasy, Peter David's
New Frontier book series is wonderful! I'm actually into all three of those types of books.

Steve Martin's Pleasure of My Own Company or Shopgirl are pretty good. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West is good. So are all of the Harry Potter books. Have fun reading!

Anything by Bill Bryson, you will learn at least one interesting thing on each page and laugh out loud a million times, the guy is a genius. My faves are Notes from a small island and Letters from a Big Country.
