I was slapped once but it was by a friend, she didn't mean to she didn't realize where I was and she flung her hand around and got me.
We do spank kids here but we try not to in public, alot of people have gotten so bent out of shape about physcial discipline of kids. But the reason for this is because some people hit their children to the point of abuse. It used to be that children could be slapped on the hands and spanked in school, but they stoppe that a long time ago. I had a teacher that would slap your hands with a ruler if you didn't keep your hands on your desk. She stopped doing it when she hit one boys hand so hard that she broke the ruler.

Yes, I've been slapped before. Never by a teacher or anything like that though. It happened one night when I was driving with my son's father who I had just broken up with, and I told him that I was seeing someone else. He sat over there very silent for a minute, and then slapped the crap out of me while I was driving! I almost had a head on collision. It was the biggest mistake of his life. He was in hiding for months because all four of my brothers and a couple of cousins of mine were on the hunt for his behind. They promised not to kill him or anything, just to show him how it felt to be slapped around!

Legally the teachers are not able to hit the kids. They used to be able to, but they can't anymore. My boyfriend slaps me all the time. My parents only hit me once, and never again. I don't see anything wrong with disciplining your childern like that, if they deserve it.

My mum used to smack me. I assume this is what you mean by slap, and what the US people mean by spank. Its an openhanded blow to someplace that's not really going to be hurt by it - your bare leg, your butt, your hand - but is going to sting. No bruises, just a red mark that fades in a few minutes. She did it when I did something that went too far, or was dangerous, and was her way of making me realise that I had to listen to what she was saying. If I actually got a smack, I knew she was seriously upset with me, and to a small child, that means a lot.
Westerners are very anti-child abuse. It is wrong to hit children, because they look up to you, and depend on you for their physical health and safety. Because of this, there is an anti-smacking law being debated in my country, which would make it illegal to hit children under any circumstances.
It is a huge debate. There are plenty of people who are against child abuse, but don't see the harm in a smack. They want their children to grow up with a clear idea of right and wrong, and consequences. They don't want to hurt their children, just discipline them. But others argue that people start out with a smack, and go too far - beating a child, breaking bones, even killing them.
I won't lie. I think that yes, I would probably smack my children if they did something unsafe, like trying to touch the hot stove or fire, or if they simply went too far and were acting too hysterical make them listen any other way, but the thought of actually hurting them - really hitting a child - makes me sick. My mother never hurt me.
We have just had a child abuse case splashed all over the media - twin babies with internal injuries and broken bones, including skull fractures. They both died in hospital, and it is now a murder investigation. Kids are small and fragile, and should be treated with care.
And yes, it is illegal here for teachers to hit children. In any way, in any circumstances.

It is against the Law to slap or hit children by Teachers or ,Parents.. But I strongly believe children should be disiplined at home. If taught right they wont be unruly in school...

if a teacher here were to hit a child here they would go to jail pretty much anything more than a swat on the bottom is considered to be child abuse and can get your children taken away from you and hitting a kid really only teaches them to hit so something like time out is more effective and does less psychological damage

I've never been hit by my parents or teachers. If they do that here in the US is considered child abuse.
