Original state - Do you have antivirus software running? How about a firewall? Have you reinstalled SP2? Do you have a modem or cable or dsl?

If you see the message again, please post exactly what it says.

After you have backed up your important files, you need to format the hard drive.

If you have recovery discs, insert the first one and follow any instructions. Choose to format if it gives you the option. Most recovery discs reinstall all of the software that came with your PC too.

If you have a recovery partition, there should be an option when you first turn on the computer to recover. You will need to press a key when the computer first starts to access the partition. It should give you some options, choose to format. Most recovery partitions are like discs and will guide you through the process, and reinstall all of the software your computer came with.

Computers have different ways of recovering, but one of these options should be close.
