"The process of making sperm takes place inside a man's testes and is known as spermatogenesis. After puberty the testicles make sperm continuously at the rate of about 125 million sperm a day. The whole process, from the initial generation of a sperm to its maturing and ejaculation takes about seven weeks.
Each sperm has a head that contains it's genetic material, and a tail for helping it move. A complex network of microscopically tiny tubes within the testes produces spermatids, the foreunners of sperm"
"The man's role - Sperm, a man's contribution to the conception of his child, are made in his testes (testicles). A man begins making sperm at puberty under the influence of testosterone from the testes, and lueninzing hormone (LH) and follice stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. LH and FSH act on the testes as they do on the ovaries. A man goes on making sperm throughout his fertile life, and, although the numbers and quality of sperm produced decline from the age of 40, men in their 90s have fathered children. Sperm production speeds up at times of sexual activity, but if ejaculation is very frequent, sperm numbers decrease, lowering a man's fertility"

Sperm are half-cells. They are made by splitting whole cells in half, then letting them develop so that they can be pulled up to the Fallopian tubes in a woman to fertilize an egg. Sperm are the smallest cells in the human body. Almost *every* cell in the human body is microscopic.
Sperm are transported into the female body in semen. The purpose of the semen is only to keep the sperm alive during those 15 seconds. Afterwards, the woman's body takes over that job (if she is approaching ovulation--otherwise the sperm die).
