Metals tend to be conductors, non-metals tend to be insulators. Some semi-metals (such as silicon) are semi-conductors.

Metals are conductors; the best are silver and copper. Insulators are non-metals, and the best are chemical compounds: glass, ceramics, plastic. Also good insulators: minerals such as mica, quartz, What determines whether a material is a conductor or an insulator is the energy required to "free" outer-shell electrons from their attachment to atoms.

In any material if the electrons are free to move from (molecules to molecules) atoms to atoms they are called conductors and if the number of free electrons are more they are good conductors . All metals are good conductors.
