I take medication for my anxiety. There is good stuff out there.

Therapy or seeing your doctor is a good place to start. I found over the years, when I would get that nervous feeling starting in my stomach, I would put in an exercise video, really loud, and do a hard work out. It helped keep the anxiety at bay. Putting on your favorite music and dancing til you are worn out would work too. Exercise is a big help when the adrenalin starts running higher than it should.

I also agree that asking God to help free you from the anxiety is the best plan, and if His plan is for you to learn to live with it, that you would seek His will.

Biofeedback is a good method. Also realizing that anxiety is often caused by distorted thoughts. Things aren't as bad as they appear to be and often turn out pretty well. You could find a mental health clinic in your area and tell the doctor that you don't want to use medication. They should be aware of alternative options. There are some books that can help you, too. One is called "Feeling Good, the New Mood Therapy". I found much of it to help with my bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety. I started reading it, but never finished the chapter on procrastination! Getting a professional to monitor your condition is very important, though.

There are a lot of good answers here, but Please do not let a doctor put you on drugs, I know from expeirnce,, the side effects are terriible, I was on paxil then effxor for over 7 years untill I became a real zero, I started tapering off this last January( against everyones wishes) and completly off by april and feel a million times better. I use yoga , don't watch tv news and meditate....

Please don't think that anxiety is something that makes you "a bad person." Meditation is wonderful, but sometimes hard to do to begin with if you "just can't seem to calm down." ever tried alternative therapies like reiki? they help the body to calm itself; look it up on the net if you are unsure of what it is. it kind of evens out all of the energy that gets trapped in certain parts of the body...and helps the body become whole again; calm and even, if that is what's needed. Good luck. I might even talk to a herbalist or naturalist if there is one in your community... they might know of more natural ways than perscribed meds.

good luck

This is what you need,
A table spoon of pure honey and a shot glass of Jack Daniels whiskey. Take the shot glass of whiskey and drink it straight down no hesitation. Now repeat this process until your feeling better with your self. Now if you are able to, take the tablespoon of honey and pour it back into the jar where you got it.
Sweet Dreams.

Anxiety is a spirit and, that is why it causes physical situations to occur. whenever and evil spirit attacks someone, they will have physical problems. The only whay to treat anxiety is with Jesus in your heart and the word of God. He can heal everyone, people just have to let him.

there are many techniques for dealing with anxiety. if it is a generalized anxiety(anxious all the time about many things) you may want to try cognitive behavioral therapy or rational emotive therapy. these techniques confront irrational or maladaptive fears or stress and teach you to either change the thought(cbt) or discount them and dismiss them by fighting the irrational aspects of these thoughts(ret). the prevailing wisdom relates that thoughts lead to feeling lead to actions. eg.I think about my upcoming speach. i then begin to think of all the things that can go wrong. this makes me feel nervous and possibly scared(anxious). this leads me to cancel the speach or well underperform.
