I got my first cartilage piercing about 3 months ago. I clean the outside with peroxide with a Q-Tip at all time but after one month of getting the pierce I took it out and soak it in peroxide for a few hours and clean the pierce ear real good. Several hours later I would go clean it up and dry it. I would also dip it in peroxide before putting it back in. I do this every weekend and it is getting better. I do agree with one of the answers given that it hurt to sleep on the side it was pierce for a while but once you start cleaning it, it will be better. I got mine on the top left side. I can't wait to get several more.

i got mine on the top of my right ear about 5 years ago. At first it hurt really badly to sleep on your side and would get infected pretty easily. Some people will have a small bump on the back of their ear at the hole but it doesn't hurt. I still have mine and wear it all the time, it stops hurting completely about 7 months later maybe.
