i am building a spreadsheet with excel and need help with a formula. it has to do with avg pointspread. i cant just enter it normally because some of the results will come out in negative numbers. for example,if d2 =122 and e2=130 then the avg in f2 will be expressed negatively. otherwise i will have to have two diferent formulas. please keep your answers simple as i am new to excel.

Not an expert either...but try pulling down format from the tool bar and selecting a text format instead of the typical numbers. This may help eliminate ur problem.
My other suggestion would be google the issue.....google is king.

The formula used to average 2 number is (n1 + n2)/2 where n1 and n2 are positive numbers. This cannot lead to a negative result, so I don't see your problem. Perhaps you haven't explained your problem with enough detail..
