No u can't, however, if someone were to complain to the police then yes. As others have mentioned over n over again its only if ur selling it that ur not allowed to rip it off, but when u buy it of course its urs to keep, therefore, u can do whatever u want with it. The reason y it says that, is b/c when the customers buy the product, in this instance mattresses or pillows they can see how to handle it. Also, if they want to wash the pillow they know how to care for the pillow, before throwing it into the washer. Weird huh!!

I think this is related to something about an Upholstered Articles Act or something ... that the product be delivered to the consumer in good condition. I suppose if you went around in a department store ripping off these tags, you would get caught in a security camera and at least asked to leave. This is tampering with property that does not belong to you.

Yea you probably can because America has to make the little things count while the big things slide by. Case and point you have terroists running around the US and were concerned with some 20 yr old pulling off a matress tag.

Don't you think we should be doing more constructive things besides locking away pillow tag rippers? Yes it probably is illegal but as most of our laws they are utterly repugnant.

You can rip them off after you buy the item, but not before. That's vandalism and illegal.
