That would be the equivalent of shooting the messenger.
Chatlines are a benefit those who need them. Why should we take awar a service that benefits single people because those that we personally feel should not be using those services are also using it.
Let me use an analogy: should we close all liquor stores because some recovering alcoholics might get tempted to shop there? While liquor stores are creating opportunities for recovering alcoholics (people who have vowed to themselves not to drink) to purchase alcohol, a thing they should not do, chatlines also provide opportunities for married individuals (those who have vowed to be faithful) to cheat on their commitments, a thing that they should also not do.
If yahoo closed their chatlines, those that are cheating through that venue would find other venues. Cheating would not cease, but a cool feature of Yahoo! would no longer be available to those who ethically use it.
We shouldn't punish the masses for the transgression of a few. We also shouldn't blame a product for what we view as moral failings of married people who choose to use it. People should have self control. And, if people don't, it's not Yahoo's fault.

Rose why should the chatlines be closed when it is us who need to be able to control ourselves. These chat lines are for people who are single(or certain ones are) so we that are married should not be on them unless the other spouse knows about it and is involved. People who are married should have better respect for them selves instead of trying to find someone else.
